This scoping review will explore how smart wearable devices (i.e., compact electronic and computing devices typically worn on an individual’s body) are used in behavioural and psychological research targeting adolescents. We will identify key methodological considerations unique to adolescent-focused research and map the similarities and gaps in the literature. In this review, we do not seek to examine the effectiveness of wearables as an intervention tool. The scoping review will be completed in accordance with the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology for scoping reviews. An iterative approach to searching the literature, refining the search strategy, reviewing articles for inclusion, and extracting relevant data is taken. |
