The primary goal of the present project is to examine the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of interpersonal psychotherapy, tailored toward college students and delivered in group modality, in reducing mental health symptoms and improving interpersonal functioning. College students experiencing mild to moderately severe depression were randomized to a) receive eight sessions of group interpersonal therapy, or b) a control condition. Surveys assessing depression, anxiety, and interpersonal functioning were administered weekly in addition to a broader pre- and post-assessment, with the latter assessing acceptability and perceptions of the intervention. These findings will provide a better understanding of the effectiveness of IPT in improving the well-being of college students experiencing distress, with the potential for such programs to be implemented at college campuses on a larger and broader scale. |
