Popis: The water flow rates through a 2D model of a tainter-gate are calculated. The geometric computer-aided design (CAD) model is created as parametric one, allowing thus simple and efficient variations of the model dimensions, compatible with automatic update of the solution domains and generation of computational meshes. The problem of water flow is considered as fluid flow with free-surface, which is computed using a computational-fluid dynamics (CFD) method based on Volume-of-Fluid (VoF) approach. The flow rates and their corresponding discharge coefficients are calculated for a number of different values of the water level in reservoir, the gate opening size and the intake depth.
