Popis: | Ocean-water profiles from some Atlantic Geosecs stations and a few Pacific samples have been analyzed for strontium by a mass spectrometric isotope dilution technique having a coefficient of variation of less than 0.2%. The strontium-to-salt distribution pattern resembles the nutrient element patterns. From a regression of strontium against phosphorus the prediction is that for every mole of phosphorus transferred in the ocean 0.67 moles of strontium is transferred. The specific agent for the transport of strontium is believed to be the SrSO 4 tests of the protozoan class Acantharia. |
