Popis: Mental retardation refers to a state that begins in childhood in which one's functioning in daily living is impaired in specific ways. Limitations in intelligence co-exist with related limitations in adaptive skills. Supports are necessary for individuals with mental retardation. The types and intensities of supports depend upon an individual's capacity, demands from and characteristics of the environments frequented, and the resultant functioning of the person.
