Popis: Labelling white blood cells with 99mTc-hexamethyl propylene amine oxime (HMPAO) is associated with the incorporation of radioactivity by granulocytes, but also by lymphocytes and monocytes1,2. Since 99mTechnetium emits low and moderate energy electrons (0,4 to 17 KeV) whose range is smaller than the cell dimensions, a significant cell irradiation may result from the presence of this radionuclide within the cells, and probably within their nucleus3,4. This is of major importance for lymphocytes, which are proliferating and very radiosensitive circulating cells. A study including physical and biological dosimetries, and the evaluation of the viability of the labelled lymphocyte was carried out to evaluate the consequences of this labelling on the lymphocyte survival.
