Popis: The high-valent halides MoCl 5 and WCl 6 react readily with a solution of polytelluride anions (Te 3 2− , Te 4 2− , Te 5 2− ) in DMF to form [O=Mo(Te 4 ) 2 ] 2− (Ia) and [O=W(Te 4 ) 2 ] 2− (Ib), respectively, in good yield. The compounds can be isolated as their [(C 6 H 5 ) 4 P] + salts and have been characterized by IR and 125 Te NMR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Reaction of the molybdenum oxy telluride cluster with 2 equiv of dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate results in addition of the acetylene group across both tellurium rings, with formation of the novel bis-(ditellurolene) complex [(C 6 H 5 ) 4 P] 2 [O=Mo(Te 2 C 2 (CO 2 CH 3 ) 2 ) 2 ]•THF ([C 6 H 5 ) 4 P] 2
