Popis: Dengue is a rapidly spreading, climate-sensitive vector-borne infectious disease and is the most important arboviral disease in the world (WHO, 2012). Today, an estimated 3.9 billion people are at risk of contracting the dengue virus (DENV) and, annually, 390 million cases are reported across tropical, subtropical, and some temperate zones of Asia, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC; Brady et al., 2012). In LAC alone, DENV is responsible for nearly 60% of global DENV incidence and represents a major socioeconomic and political public health challenge in the region (WHO, 2010).
