Popis: JOHNSTON R., MCKINNEY M. and STARK T. (1996) Regional price level variations and real household incomes in the United Kingdom, 1979/80–1993, Reg. Studies 30, 567–578. For the years 1979/80 to 1993 relative regional price indices (RRPIs) are construced under a variety of definitions. The base data are an amalgamation of figures from the Reward Group's Cost of Living Comparisons and the Family Expenditure Surveys. The RRPIs are then used to adjust regional household weekly incomes and the impact examined on the inequality of income. Inequality is decomposed into within region and between region components. Both components are seen to increase over the time period but both the level and increase in the former are substantially larger than the latter. A general conclusion is that inequality within regions far exceeds that between regions. JOHNSTON R., MCKINNEY M. et STARK T.
