Popis: | The kinetics of ethylxanthate adsorption on unmodified or modified (by lead ion species) cerussite surface in alkaline media was examined using infrared attenuated total reflection spectroscopy (ATR-IR) and zeta potential data. IR and zeta potential data showed a desorption of the earlier adsorbed ethylxanthate on unmodified cerussite surface during mineral agitation in ethylxanthate solution (5×10 −5 mol dm −3 ). The amount of adsorbed ethylxanthate also decreased during the collection after cerussite activation for ten minutes in Pb-acetate solution (1×10 −6 mol dm −3 ) before ethylxanthate was added. Only activation with lead ion species for twenty minutes gave rise to the formation of a relatively strong-linked surface layer composed of nonstoichiometric (monolayer and multilayer) lead ethylxanthate, which remained on the mineral surface during the collection. |
