Popis: | This article explores French travelogues from Sweden from 1945 to 1980. The inquiry focuses on the author Henri Queffelec, the philosopher Emmanuel Mounier, the economist Jean Parent and the economic historian Gabriel Ardant, who all played a significant part in shaping the image of ‘the Swedish model’ in France. The reports presented by these four travellers and reporters are also some of the most profound and original depictions of Sweden found in this period. However, the reports are not mere reflections of a country but also constitute projections of dreams and nightmares where the foreign and exotic North works as a catalyst for the writers’ political and philosophical visions. |
