The graphics processor of an intelligent graphics terminal is described. The processor has been implemented with the help of microprogrammable bit-slice elements. The graphics processor accepts coordinate and attributes information in a 16 bit fixed point format and generates the display image for a random scan vector tube operating in store/refresh mode. This paper describes, how a great deal of the full functionality of the Graphical Kernel System has been retained in the function set of the graphics processor. So, the setting of attributes and their association with output primitives has been obtained without leaving the microprogram level. |
