The crystal structure of La2Fe25P12

Popis: The new compound La2Fe25P12 was prepared by reaction of the elements in a tin flux. Its crystal structure was determined from single-crystal X-ray diffractometer data: Pbam, a = 1475.6(4) pm, b = 1814.9(4) pm, c = 363.6(2) pm, Z = 2, R = 0.037 for 1765 unique structure factors and 120 variable parameters. The compound belongs to a large family of structures with a metal: phosphorus ratio close to 2:1. An unusual feature in the structure of La2Fe25P12 are strings of edge-sharing Fe4 tetrahedra extending along the short translation period.
