Popis: | Osteochondritis dissecans fragment of medial femoral condyle was fixed with cortical bone pegs in 18 patients and in 22 patients using bioabsorbable rods (self-reinforced polyglycolide, SR-PGA rods or self-reinforced polylactide, SR-PLLA rods). After cortical bone peg fixation the Lysholm functional knee score was median 79.5 (range 32–100) and after bioabsorbable rod fixation it was 86.5 (range 49–100, NS). The Tegner activity scale level was lower (median 4.0; range 2–7), after bone peg fixation than after bioabsorbable rod fixation where it was 5.0 (range 2–9; P =0.005). No statistical difference was noted in clinical outcomes. The complication rate was similar in the groups. We conclude that both methods produce a reliable fixation of osteochondritis dissecans with no need for removal of the implant. |
