Popis: A nearly complete atomic model for an infectious rotavirus particle has emerged from application, at various levels of resolution during the past three decades, of electron microscopy and X-ray crystallography. The resulting pictures of the virion and its substructures, described and illustrated here, enable experiments that probe the molecular mechanisms of virus entry, RNA synthesis, and virus particle assembly.
