The classic vomitory is a local opening in the structure of spectators’ area, which provides a spatial connection with the external functional zones of the stadium. Major problems of these solutions are the complications resulting from the continuity interruption of the structure of the terraced surface of the stands. This fact necessitates the densification of the main carrier elements. The research conducted by the author, supported by his practice in the architectural design of stadiums, shows that classical vomitory can be replaced by other, more beneficial solutions. One of them is the idea presented in this paper, called latitudinal vomitory. The aim of the research were comparative analysis concerning the two systems, described above. The theoretical studies revealed that the new concept in comparison to the classical one has the numerous functional, structural and safety benefits, pointing to the need for its further research. |
