Popis: The clinical value of three-dimensional (3D) (volume) time of flight (flow-related enhancement) gradient-echo MR angiography (MRA) was assessed in 40 patients presenting with clinical cerebrovascular disease. Nine had aneurysms, 12 had occlusive vascular disease, 10 had a vascular malformation or fistula and 9 patients had normal studies (2 patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage, 1 patient with unilateral third cranial nerve palsy, 6 patients with headache and migraine). 3D MRA was compared with intra-arterial digital subtraction angiography in all 40 patients and in most correlated closely. The results of this preliminary experience suggest that 3D MRA can adequately define the fast-flowing medium- to large-sized intracranial vessels and detect pathological involvement with reasonable certainty, non-invasively.
