Popis: Temperament has been shown to influence the psychopathology and the course of affective disorders (Tolle, 1987; Perugi et al. , 2010). With the briefTEMPS-M (Erfurth et al. , 2005a, 2005b) a quick and valid assessment of temperament is possible. We have examined the impact of temperamental traits on the psychopathology and course of alcoholism. The dimensions of alcohol dependence were assessed by means of a computerized structured interview, the Lesch Alcoholism Typology. A total of 116 patients with alcohol dependence were examined at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Medical University Vienna, Austria. High scores in cyclothymic temperament were associated with a negative course of the disease and highly overlapped with the Lesch IV subtype of alcoholism. Therapeutic consequences are discussed. The Lesch Typology aims at achieving this objective. Our research aim was to find biological markers for delineation between the four types. We already know that the methanol elimination is significantly different, especially between the types I and IV, the acetaldehyde-driven pupils enlargement is different, as well as their cravings for alcohol. As far as new research results are concerned, this presentation will focus on genetics, amino acids and therapy outcome. We performed, in 239 alcohol-dependent patients, the triallelic genotyping of the 5HT-promotor region with the hypothesis that the short allele should differ between type III and the other Lesch types. There was no significant difference between the types. In the OCDS, female patients and type IV patients had significantly higher obsessive scores ( P
