Popis:	Abstact Using a servo — controlled testing machine, stress — strain curves were obtained for specimens of sandstone taken from site investigation. The uniaxial compressive strength, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio and the britlleness index were measured in order to evaluate the influence of water absorption phenomena such as are likely to occur on site on the mechanical properties.
