Popis: THE Kentucky Agricultural Experiment Station has in progress an experiment which investigates the influence of vitamin D on certain phases of growth of New Hampshire cockerels. The first part (Buckner et al., 1951) concerned the influence of this vitamin on weight, occurrence of rickets in New Hampshire cockerels and the linear dimensions, ex-expressed as length plus height, and weights of comb, wattles, gonads, and uropygeal gland. The data discussed herein concern the influence of the rations on the growth and ossification of the sterni, tibiae, femora, and metatarsi of New Hampshire cockerels. Three groups of New Hampshire chicks, each containing 100 one-day old chicks, were weighed individually and placed in battery brooders in a room lighted continuously by one 75-watt electric bulb and one window but were so placed as to receive no direct sunlight for 18 weeks. Consideration was given to equalizing weight and physical condition of the chicks . . .
