Popis: | Swimming goggles are important tools for professional swimmers, as well as the general public, to have clear visibility, fit, and wearing comfort under water; however, commercialized swimming goggles have been designed as one-size-fits-all, which may cause several issues to the wearers who have different facial dimensions; Typical issues include improper fit which causes water leakage, and sometimes exceeded pressure that might occur on the eyes. The present study is intended to design and validate ergonomic swimming goggles that are specially designed toward a wearer’s 3D facial shape. Before designing novel swimming goggles, 26 existing swimming goggles were investigated in terms of the design features of their lens, strap, and gasket. In addition, dimensions of lens, nose bridge, frame, and gasket were measured by using a caliper. To design the shape of a gasket, one male’s 3D facial scan data was constructed by using multiple mobile phone 2D images. The shape of the gasket is being designed based on the facial structure of the subject using computer aided design (CAD). Detailed design and validation results will be presented at the conference. |
