Popis: | As there is presently insufficient information on the relation between sequencing method and controllability, this study is aimed to explore such relation between the driving force sequencing method and controllability. The methodology used consists of three stages; sequence synthesis, energy comparison, and controllability comparison. In the first stage, an energy efficient distillation columns sequence is synthesised using the driving force method, and other sequences are synthesised for comparison purposes. In the second stage, their energy usages are compared. In the third stage, relative gain array method is used to determine the controllability; the interaction between control loops in a sequence. The methodology is applied to a four component hydrocarbon mixture. Results showed that the sequence with the best controllability is the one synthesised based on the driving force approach. |
