Popis:	A statistical model of the lightning channel attraction to ground objects is proposed based on the analysis of the available experimental data on the breakdown of long air gaps and the propagation of the lightning leader channel. The model allows one to estimate the probability of lightning interception by a lightning rod and of lightning damage of the protected object. Examples of calculating the probabilities of lightning strike to the lightning rod and neighboring areas are presented.
