The authors present a method for studying, by speckle interferometry, the defects of centering of an optical system. This is achieved by determining the positions of each element relative to a mechanical axis. A speckle photograph of a scatter plate is recorded in the image plane of the optical system under test, and put again in its own place after processing. The optical system is then rotated about an axis very close to its optical axis. The fringe pattern observed in the pupil plane for any angle of rotation allows one to derive relations between the parameters of position of each element. They give a theoretical study, and discuss the application to an actual optical system of two elements. Experimental results are given. |
