Popis: | In this article, we propose a novel selective method for determination of chlorides using paper modified with silver triangular nanoplates. It is based on simultaneous in-situ conversion of chloride ions into chlorine and its dynamic gas extraction with digital colorimetric detection using convenient nanoparticle-modified paper test strips. The dynamic gas extraction improves remarkably selectivity of the nanoparticle-based detection. A simple and inexpensive setup allowing for realization of this combination is described. The limit of chloride ions detection is 0.04 mg L−1 and the determination range is 0.1–1.5 mg L−1. This determination can be successfully carried out in solutions containing at least 7·104 greater molar amounts of common inorganic ions. Due to the high selectivity, the direct determination of chlorides in pharmaceutical formulations, river water and tomato juice is possible with no sample pretreatment. The proposed approach seems to be promising for nanoparticle-based determinations of other analytes that can be transformed to volatile derivatives. |
