Popis: The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of creep relaxation on the initial prestresses that were induced in the composite pressure vessel layers during the winding process, and to determine the magnitude and distribution of the creep stress based on the interface pressure and the prestresses on the reinforced composite layers as a function of time. In such vessels, in order to maintain the factor of safety of the pressure vessel as existed when the vessel was constructed, the internal pressure must be decreased (or the external pressure be increased) with time. A relationship between the ultimate failure pressure and time is provided. A numerical example showing the distribution of the ultimate failure pressure with time is given.
