Popis: The adhesion class of G protein–coupled receptors (aGPCRs) are a family that consists of 33 members in humans. Prior literature has demonstrated the importance of various aGPCRs in a diverse set of diseases, underscoring the importance of these receptors in human health. Although many aGPCRs are orphan receptors, recent work has demonstrated that these receptors contribute heavily to many important processes during development of the nervous system such as myelination and cortical patterning. This chapter focuses on the role of aGPCRs specifically in glial cells, highlighting the untapped potential of aGPCRs as novel therapeutics in neurodegenerative diseases.
