The title of the bachelor thesis work is âEstimation of the time resolution of the forward time-of-flight detector of the PANDA spectrometerâ. The main goal of this work is to estimate the time resolution of long scintillator counters based on BC-408, EJ-200 scintillators and R13435 photomultiplier tubes. The time resolution Ï is estimated by laser method. The time resolution of each counter is obtained for two cases: with a known hit position and with an unknown one. The propoused method assumes that resolutions with a known hit position are always better than without one. For a counter made of BC-408 plastic, the values of Ï lie in the intervals (50 â 70) ps and (65 â 85) ps, to the cases of known and unknown hit position, correspondingly. And for a counter made of EJ-200 plastic, the values of Ï lie in the intervals (40 â 50) ps and (45 â 55) ps, that also corresponds to the cases of known and unknown hit position. As a result of the work, it was found that the use of long scintillator counters based on the EJ-200 scintillator and R13435 photomultiplier tubes is the most optimal for the construction of the forward time-of-flight detector of the PANDA spectrometer. This configuration is fully satisfied the requirements for the time resolution of this detector. |
