Exploration of Fatty Acid from the Seed Oil of Crotalaria pallida Aiton for Its Healthcare and Antibacterial Efficacy

Popis: Seeds of Crotalaria pallida, belongs to the family Fabaceae, of the order Leguminosae are evaluated for its oil quality of. Physical properties like color, density and specific gravity of the oil are determined. Unsaturated and saturated fatty acid content are 24.03 and 75.78%, respectively. Physico-chemical properties of oil evaluated as, acid value (22.00 ± 0.25), saponification value (170.00 ± 1.50) and iodine value (84.00 ± 2.30). The oil yield is 4.3%. Critical assessment of oil quality made through gas chromatography followed by GC–MS. Arachidic acid (37.99%) and palmitic acid (32.48%) are found as most abundant saturated fatty acids, whereas, linolaidic acid (10.47%) is the predominant unsaturated fatty acid. Pharmacological examination assures its effectiveness against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. This is the first attempt for exploration of seed oil from C. pallida.
