Ca–Al co-doped strontium hexaferrite powder with a cation composition of Sr0,54Ca0,46Fe6,5Al5,5O19 was synthesized using solid-state route. The prepared powder was calcined at different temperatures (1200 °C, 1250 °C, 1300 °C and 1350 °C) for 24 h. Structural, morphological and magnetic properties of synthesized samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and SQUID measurements. The XRD results confirmed the hexagonal structure. The calcination temperature sufficient for the complete formation of the phase was found to be 1300 °C. The size of the crystallite determined from XRD data was found to be small compared to that of the grain size calculated from the SEM micrograph. According to the magnetic data, an increase in the calcination temperature leads to a small increase in the remanent magnetization and coercivity field. This can be explained by the increase of the crystallite size. |
