Popis: Multiple grading layers and transparent grading layers have been developed to permit the crystallographic connection of the individual subcells of a monolithic cascade solar cell, which are lattice mismatched with respect to each other. The transparent grading is of sufficiently high bandgap to absorb a negligible fraction of the light destined for underlying subcells. High-quality subcells can be grown by this double mismatch technique in which changes of lattice constant occur not only between the substrate and lower cell, but also between the lower and upper cells.
