Popis: Chromophore-assisted laser inactivation (CALI) is a new technique that selectively targets proteins of interest to inactivate their function by engineering proteins and dye molecules that produce reactive oxygen species upon absorption of light. This method is a powerful tool for functional analysis via protein inactivation with high spatial and temporal resolution. Here, we review the underlying photochemical mechanisms and applications of CALI, and discuss its potential value in clinical studies.
