Popis: The dynamic behavjour of the PVF 2 gauge designed and produced by CEV-M * has been investigated both by CEV-M * and CEG ** under plane wave loading. In the range 0-100 kbar, the accuracy on the measured stress is ± 5% and the gauge can be used for both compression and release. In the 100 - 280 kbar range, the gauge can only be used in compression and the uncertainty increases from ± 5% to ± 30%. At approximately 280 kbar, the calibration curve shows a discontinuity and above 280 kbar the sensitivity of the gauge decreases drastically, prohibiting the use of PVF 2 as a stress sensor. In addition, we show that the electrical impedance of PVF 2 drops over the range 400 to 600 kbar.
