Popis:	New experimental results concerning the concentration quenching of the luminescence of the 4I 9 2 level of Er3+ in different laser crystals, at room temperature, are presented. The detrimental effect of the concentration quenching of 4I 9 2 level on the 3 μm emission of Er lasers, expressed by the figure of merit, h, is discussed.
