Use of spatially bandlimited basis functions for three-dimensional MoM solutions

Popis: There has been considerable interest in improving the solution efficiency of the method of moments (MoM). In particular is the drive to conserve the use of basis functions, since it has the most direct impact on the computer resource requirement of such numerical solutions. To achieve this requires the efficient representation of the unknown surface fields with a minimum number of samples. In this paper, we show that surface fields have an important characteristic: a majority of their energy is often distributed within a limited band of spatial frequencies. Consequently, the use of a bandlimited basis set tends to lead to very efficient solutions with near optimum sampling rates. The formulation and numerical results are presented. >
