Aorto-esophageal fistula (AEF) is a rare complication of Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). It is difficult to treat, and patients rarely survive without treatment. An 88-years-old woman presented with AEF and sepsis of Klebsiella pneumoniae . Since the open surgery was difficult, we implanted an esophageal stent to cover the fistula. It enabled her to eat and drink normally for 4 months. She died of hemorrhagic shock; however, the esophageal stent remained intact. Even though esophageal stent treatment is generally not totally complete, it is a favored treatment option for those who wish to eat and to live normal life as long as possible. |
