Popis: The paper takes a look at movement as a unifying theme for imagery structure of the novel “Molloy” (1951) written by the classic of modernist writing Samuel Beckett. The analysis of imagery allows us to explain its particular meaning and to show a connection between persistent travelling of the main characters, and their feeling of despair, which comes from their inability to make any sense and description of the world. In this context the existential issues, such as impotence, futility, abandonment, and disintegration of body and mind, become especially meaningful. Meanwhile, impotence could be viewed as a source of vital forces for the protagonists. It drives them to their goals. At the same time, their desire for independence turns to the need of keeping on the move.
