Popis: | Howard and Thomas first proposed the existence of inhibitors of crystallization in urine and postulated that patients with urolithiasis had a deficiency of these inhibitors1,2. This was based on the observation that urine from patients with renal calculi tended to calcify rachitic rat cartilage (so called “evil urine”), whereas urine from normal subjects did not (”good urine”). Since then, considerable effort has been expended on the isolation and characterization of these inhibitors. |
