Popis: Cryptographic algorithms are widely used for the purpose of ensuring security of data used in financial transactions (e.g., ATM transactions, the online banking). RSA has been one of the most widely used cryptographic algorithms. Currently, the migration from RSA to Elliptic Curve Cryptography is an important agenda in many sectors including the financial industry . Comparing with RSA, Elliptic Curve Cryptography has the following two advantages: (1) It can provide the same security level by smaller key sizes, (2) The probability of the occurrence of security flaws by operational issues is much lower. In this paper, we will introduce a brief overview of the recent situation of RSA and explain the usage of Elliptic Curve Cryptography in the financial industry . Also, we will show the recent study on the security evaluation of Elliptic Curve Cryptography .
