Popis: Tremendous interest has been witnessed during the last few decades in the chemistry of diaryl heterocycles and their therapeutic applications. Vicinal diaryl substituted pyrroles particularly have gained a lot of attention due to their wide spectrum of biological activities like anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiproliferative, antitubercular, antimicrobial, anticoccidial, and antihyperlipidemic. This chapter highlights important aspects of synthetic strategies, structure-activity relationship studies, and biological properties of vicinal 1,2-, 2,3-, 3,4-, 4,5-, and 1,5-diarylpyrrole moieties reported in the last decade starting from the year 2006. The discovery of novel diaryl pyrrole containing agents from synthetic as well as natural sources has encouraged continued efforts in this area. As only a few number of drugs with vicinal diaryl pyrrole scaffold are available in market, a lot of research activity is expected in the near future in this field.
