Popis: | Penetration equations are provided for high L/D tungsten rods striking steel targets at 2.2 km/s. The equations take into account angle of attack and gaps within the targets. It is found that yaw degradation is not exacerbated by target gaps. Examination of crater profiles from experiments and numerical simulations points to an explanation: ricochet of the projectile within the penetration cavity. |
