Popis: | SUMMARYA novel process for the direct finishing of zinc diecastings and zinc plated steel is described. The finishing technique is based on the deposition of a coating of microporous chromium from a wholly aqueous, wholly inorganic trivalent chromium plating bath. Bright levelled zinc plate is used as an undercoat and when this is overplated with the new chromium deposit a finish indistinguishable in appearance from the standard BS 1224 finish is obtained. The results of several successful outdoor corrosion testing programmes are reported and a mechanism is proposed for the excellent corrosion resistance of the novel coating system. |
