Popis:	Even though substituted phenols are com-monly used in the Mannich reaction, it has been difficult toundergo aminomethylation of various phenols with stericallyhindered amines. Instead of direct aminomethylation, bulkyazacrown ethers were treated with the methanol solution offormaldehyde to provide the N-methoxymethyl-substitutedazacrown ethers, which subsequently gave the Mannichbases by the reaction with a proper substrate.
