Popis: For crowded cities, there is no longer adequate over ground space for new transportation systems. Therefore, the inevitable trend is building tunnels as a viable solution for the increasing traffic congestions in urban areas. The 781 m long twin-tunnel in the Metro line Number 1 Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien is the first tunnel that was constructed using TBM in urban area in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. Extensive monitoring scheme was conducted to measure settlement of soil and buildings along the tunnel route. This data source offers a unique opportunity to investigate the effects of tunnelling to soil and nearby buildings. The main aim of this paper is to back-analyze the field data to determine typical values of settlement trough width parameter K and volume loss ratio VL for the encountered soil conditions along the line Number 1 Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien. These values can be useful reference for future tunnelling projects with similar geotechnical conditions in Ho Chi Minh city.
