Popis: This study examines a number of experiments which have tried to build up community support for family planning usually in conjunction with health and other activities by getting the people concerned to play an active part in the planning of those activities and in the actual work of carrying them out. The study is based on six case studies conducted in India Indonesia the Philippines Mexico and Peru. It is the result of a cooperative venture involving the World Health Organization (WHO) UNICEF the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and the OECD Development Centre. This report is a result of a seminar held at the OECD Development Centre at which papers written by the directors of the projects concerned were presented and discussed. It consists of an overview of the projects including information on their environment the extent of community participation project management and results in the areas of health family planning and community empowerment.
