Popis: | Recent advances in self-interference cancellation (SIC) techniques have made the implementation of Full Duplex (FD) possible. FD technology promises doubling the capacity of wireless networks without needing new frequencies, by enabling communication devices to receive and transmit at the same time and frequency. However, when considering the overall communication networks, gains may be less significant or even non-existent. The purpose of this article is therefore to identify the most promising applications of FD. Based on the study of the available literature, we establish that Device-to-Device (D2D) communication and femtocell deployments might be some of the best use cases to unlock the potential of FD communications. |
