Popis: The vibration spectra of some hydrogeneous compounds have been studied over the range 300–4000 cm−1 by observing incoherent neutron scattering. The paper describes the use of a crystal analyzer technique with a pulsed neutron source based on the Harwell 45‐MeV electron linac. Time‐of‐flight spectra of neutrons downscattered to a final energy, fixed by the crystal spectrometer, were measured. Data for ZrH2, H2O, NaNH2, and C6H5NH2 are reported and compared with available results from optical spectroscopy and, in the first two cases, other neutron scattering data.
