Popis: Recurrent (≥2) falls are a common problem for people with Parkinson's disease (PD). This complex and multifactorial problem can lead to activity limitations, participation restrictions, and reduced quality of life, and thus recurrent falls may be considered a major source of disability. This review describes potentially remediable and nonremediable risk factors for recurrent falls in people with PD along with their methods of assessment. Clinical prediction tools are also presented, and their potential to classify individuals according to the level of fall risk (i.e., low, moderate, or high) is described. Evidence from exercise-based and pharmacological interventions targeting fall prevention or reduction in the rate (i.e., number) of falls is summarized, and recommendations for managing recurrent falls in people with PD are provided.
