Crystals of tetrathiafulvalene 11,11,12,12-tetracyanonaphtho-2, 6-quinodimethane (TTF)(TNAP), obtained via a slow diffusion process from acetonitrile solution are triclinic with uniform, segregated stacks of cation and anion radicals. The electrical conductivity near room temperature is 40 ${\mathrm{ohm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ and shows little temperature dependence. At 185 K there is a sharp drop in conductivity and at lower temperatures the conductivity is activated with an energy 0.1 eV. The spin susceptibility and $g$ tensor show temperature dependences in relation to the transition similar to those exhibited by tetrathiafulvalene-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TTF)(TCNQ). No evidence for a Peierls distortion was obtained from x-ray diffraction studies at 150 K. |
