Significance of the physical modification of polycaproamide by antioxidants for its stabilization during thermo-oxidative ageing

Popis: It is shown that antioxidants influence the supermolecular structure of polycaproamide (PCA) in different ways: they may be structurally inert, or plasticizers, or artificial nuclei for structure formation. Transformation of the supermolecular structure during the synthesis of PCA or under conditions of reprocessing involving the introduction of nucleating or plasticizing antioxidants compresses the physical structure of the polymer, thus adding considerably to the stabilizing effect of the antioxidants. The significance and correlation of physical modification with respect to the volume and surface of the polymer during PCA stabilization under conditions of thermooxidative ageing is brought to light.
